Manage Your Network Traffic

PacketSure is a network appliance that allows system administrators to block, monitor, log, shape or throttle LAN access to an expansive list of unproductive or potentially dangerous protocols and applications. You can choose to set rules from our default list or create your own custom rules to manage protocols unique to your network.

Flexible Management

PacketSure protects your organization by managing your network traffic using a flexible rule set. You can, for example, block an entire network from accessing certain protocols or applications, block all access except in one computer lab, or block on a machine-by-machine basis. You can also use time-based rules to block access during critical hours but allow it at other times, and block based on network load or the load of specific applications.

Network Management

PacketSure can detect the incoming, outgoing, or internal use of virtually any protocol or application to:

 * Monitor. Choose to monitor these protocols and applications to help you determine what you need to do to get your networks under control.
 * Manage. Control your network using PacketSure's flexibility. For example, set rules to permit their use only from certain machines or during off-hours.
 * Block. Directional rules allow you to flexibly block offending traffic; for example, you could block incoming Telnet but allow outgoing Telnet.
 * Shape. Restrict the amount of bandwidth an application can use and slow the download speed for a rule. For example, if you have a T1 line with 1.5 Mbps capability, you can limit KaZaA traffic to 10% of your total bandwidth.
 * Throttle. PacketSure gives you the ability to set rules to block traffic from one specific protocol, group of protocols, or applications on your network when they exceed a certain level. For example, if KaZaA traffic exceeds a specific threshold of 20% (310 Kbps) of an organization's total bandwidth (1544 Kbps - Single T1 line), PacketSure will block all (or specified) users from accessing the application.
 * Report. PacketSure offers robust reporting capabilities. You can perform many of PacketSure's administrative activities from wherever you are using a Web browser, and you can do so securely, or schedule tasks such as log retrieval to run automatically. You can create numerous reports that graphically detail user activity, including protocol analyses and machine-by-machine activity reports.

In addition, Palisade's TrendReporter software connects to any PacketSure unit to provide a real-time view of your network traffic. Beyond tracking the usage of individual protocols and applications on your network, TrendReporter also allows you to track the percentage of the total bandwidth consumed.
